EmploymentOur national employment team is highly regarded and is one of the top tier employment practices in New Zealand. With five partners and over 20 employment lawyers the team has the expertise, experience and resources to act on all employment-related matters including large transactions/litigation with urgent deadlines. As part of the international Minter Ellison group we deliver a unique service drawing on our international expertise where necessary. Our employment experts are easy to work with, and exceed clients’ expectations in delivering the highest quality advice, on time, and in a way that meets our clients’ individual needs. We advise the public and private sector on all aspects of New Zealand employment law as well as immigration matters. The team advises on all employment-related matters including managing poor performance, disciplinary investigations and dismissals, restructuring and redundancies, restraint of trade, health and safety, privacy, parental leave, and protected disclosures. The team’s practice is split between contentious and non-contentious work. Non-contentious advice includes: recruitment assistance, drafting employment and independent contractor documentation including HR polices, opinions, legislative compliance audits, Kiwisaver, superannuation and individual and collective bargaining advice. Contentious work includes representing clients at mediation, in the Employment Relations Authority, the Employment Court and the appellate courts in all employment related matters. Our team also advises clients on their legislative and contractual obligations and important case law and legislative developments.
