Minter Ellison Rudd Watts News

Cathy Quinn, Partner, appointed to Capital Market Development Taskforce

Commerce Minister, Lianne Dalziel, has announced the formation of a Capital Market Development Taskforce. Cathy Quinn, head of Minter Ellison Rudd Watts' Mergers & Acquisitions practice, will join the task force headed by investment banker, Rob Cameron (Cameron & Co).  Other members are Franceska Banga (NZVIF), Jonathan Ling (Fletcher Building), Rob McLeod (Ernst and Young), Gareth Morgan (Gareth Morgan Investments), Adrian Orr (New Zealand Superfund), Scott St John (First New Zealand Capital), Mark Weldon (NZX) and Nigel Williams (ANZ National Bank).

The Minister said the taskforce's role is to "develop a blueprint and action plan" to grow New Zealand's capital markets.  "To deliver wealth and jobs, New Zealand firms need ready access to affordable capital. The taskforce will identify ways to make that happen."

Rob Cameron commented "In order to produce a working blueprint that will support the growth of New Zealand's firms, we'll need to look at the current state of our capital markets, the international context, future risks and opportunities and key changes necessary to deliver the best possible financial system for New Zealand.  It will be a challenge but one that the taskforce welcomes."
