Minter Ellison speaks at INFINZ Conference 2009

This year's Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand (INFINZ) conference was held in Rotorua New Zealand this week, on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September. The event is to be attended by over 100 thought leaders of the finance and capital markets to discuss strategies to drive innovation and growth in the New Zealand economy.
At the event, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts partner and INFINZ member, Lloyd Kavanagh addressed the group in a panel discussion entitled Rethinking the Securities Act together with other leaders in this field including David King, Manager, Financial Sector, Competition Trade and Investment Branch, Ministry of Economic Development, Paul Dougherty, Cameron Partners and Mary Holm, Investment Writer, member of the Capital Market Development (CMD) Taskforce.
The panel discussion discussed recent the new Securities Law and changes to the Financial Advisers Act. The Securities (Disclosure) Amendment Act 2009 implements the new simplified prospectus regime for listed issuers and changes the way private offers of securities can be made without requiring full compliance with the Securities Act 1978 (Securities Act).
