Minter Ellison swimming legend races for charity
6 April 2010
Minter Ellison Rudd Watts Auckland is pleased to be supporting our community and hosting a charity event this week, on Thursday 8th April 2010, in support of Arthritis New Zealand.
Mark Treffers, a Partner in the Minter Ellison Canberra, and New Zealand Commonwealth Games gold, silver and bronze medallist, is travelling from Canberra where he lives and works, to speak at the event, and will also captain the upcoming Arthritis New Zealand team in a charity swimming event to be held on Saturday. Mark won the gold medal for New Zealand in the men's 400 metre Individual Medley and the silver medal in the men's 1500 metre freestyle at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games. At the 1970 British Commonwealth Games he won the bronze medal in the 1500 metre freestyle event. The charity swimming event will be held on Saturday 10 April 2010 at the West Wave Aquatic Centre in Waitakere and some of New Zealand’s best ever swimmers, including Mark Treffers, will line up to race against each other for charity. Swimmers include Anthony Mosse, Danyon Loader, Toni Jeffs, Anna Simcic, Rebecca Perrott, and Paul Kingsman.
This event will be the largest reunion of past swimming champions ever held in New Zealand, and the swimming legends’ races for charity follow immediately on from a Skin’s event, which is a race for money featuring New Zealand’s top swimmers, who the day before, would have finished trialing for 2010 Commonwealth Games selection.
