Daniel's legal experience spans over ten years in environmental law, primarily advising land owners and developers on a range of environmental and related issues, particularly in respect of consenting and planning matters under the Resource Management Act, including financial and development contributions. Daniel also advises on Maori resource and planning issues, including customarily title and Treaty issues and iwi involvement in planning processes, and in respect of liquor licensing and in respect of the Building Act.

Daniel has over a decade of experience in the environmental law field, and primarily advises land owners and developers on a range of environmental issues, particularly under the RMA and has experience in a wide range of development and planning matters. Daniel also advises on liquor and gaming licensing and in respect of Building Act and Maori land and Treaty issues. Daniel has appeared before local authorities, the Environment Court and High Court on numerous occasions, and before the Select Committee in respect of legislative changes.

  • Acting for an appellant in various Environment Court appeals in respect of plan changes across the Auckland region dealing with land use and transportation integration (‘LGAAA' plan changes)
  • Acting for the applicant for one of the largest aquaculture proposals in New Zealand, in the Firth of Thames
  • Acting for an appellant in respect of the proposed Massey North Town Centre, in Waitakere City
  • Acting for an appellant in respect of Environment Court appeals concerning aquaculture planning for the Northland region
  • Advising a major landowner in the Auckland City centre on planning matters for Auckland
  • Acting for an applicant in its High Court application for customary title of parts of the foreshore and seabed under the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act
  • Advising in respect of retirement village proposals and related planning issues
  • Acting for the applicant and appellant in respect of a supermarket proposal in Papakura
  • Acting for an appellant in respect of a proposal to establish 200 sea turbines in the Kaipara Harbour
