Daniel has over a decade of experience in the environmental law field, and primarily advises land owners and developers on a range of environmental issues, particularly under the RMA and has experience in a wide range of development and planning matters. Daniel also advises on liquor and gaming licensing and in respect of Building Act and Maori land and Treaty issues. Daniel has appeared before local authorities, the Environment Court and High Court on numerous occasions, and before the Select Committee in respect of legislative changes.

  • Various Environment Court appeals in respect of plan changes across the Auckland region dealing with land use and transportation integration (‘LGAAA' plan changes)
  • Acting for the applicant for one of the largest aquaculture proposals in New Zealand, in the Firth of Thames
  • Environment Court and High Court appeals concerning a large format shopping centre in Te Awamutu
  • Advising in respect of the proposed Massey North Town Centre, in Waitakere City
  • Environment Court appeals concerning planning for the Albany Sub-regional centre
  • Environment Court appeals concerning aquaculture planning for the Northland region
  • Advising Ngati Whatua o Orakei Corporate on planning matters for Auckland
  • Acting for Highbrook Developments Ltd in respect of designations for gas pipelines to Auckland
  • Environment Court appeals concerning a contentious supermarket proposal in Wairau Road, North Shore City
  • Acting for Northland Port/Northport to obtain resource consents for the Marsden Point Port
  • Environment Court appeals concerning planning for commercial activities in Hamilton City

  • Advising Foodstuffs (Auckland) Ltd on a day to day basis regarding numerous planning and project issues
  • Advising aquaculture developers and interest groups (including Maori organisations) on legislative and planning matters regarding aquaculture law, including appearing before Councils, the Environment Court and Select Committee
  • Advising a range of developers and landowners in respect of environmental issues and representing them before Councils, the Environment Court and High Court
