Ross is a commercial property and construction lawyer and leads the firm's national Real Estate team. Ross advises clients on divestments, acquisitions, and on the development of strategic sites including providing investment structure, multi titled developments, logistics facilities, industrial leasing, and compliance with regulatory controls advice, including the Resource Management Act, the Building Act and environmental issues.

Ross specialises in all aspects of commercial property including ownership, acquisition, divestments, title structures, commercial leasing, industry specific property matters including Overseas Investment Act compliance.  He acts for a range of property corporates and industries across a broad spectrum including office towers, industrial sites and developments; forestry; telcos; power industries; subdivisions (industrial, residential and multi-titled) and all associated structuring.

  • Southern Cross Hospitals Limited: various hospital, medical and surgical developments, whether owner-operated, partnerships or leases
  • Forestry sector: Sale of central North Island forests for receivers, sale of Nelson forests for Weyerhauser
  • Purchase of Tarawera Forest and successive Forestry Rights to Hancocks and then Harvard; and proposed acquisition of Carter Holt Forests for US Forester
  • Westpac: development and lease of new $120 million New Zealand headquarters in Britomart, Auckland
  • Fonterra: major road/rail logistics facility in Te Rapa
  • Ports of Auckland: road/rail/property issues relating to development of inland port at Wiri
  • Village Roadshow Limited: purchase of Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World
  • NZ Refinery: property/pipeline matters for jet fuel, diesel and petrol from Marsden Point to Wiri
  • Shopping Centres: acquisition, development, divestment for various centres: Porirua, Plaza, Palmerston North, Royal Oak, Meadowbank, Hunters Plaza and Milford
