International real estate expert joins top firm

MinterEllisonRuddWatts is delighted to announce the appointment of Karen Ryder as a Special Counsel in the firm’s Property and Real Estate team.

Previously at global law firm Baker McKenzie in Sydney for 22 years, Karen was a Partner of the Australian Commercial Real Estate Team for 15 years, including six years as practice group leader.  At Baker McKenzie, Karen acted for European, US and Asian real estate funds on their Australia and New Zealand real estate portfolios, and as such, she brings strong international experience to MinterEllisonRuddWatts’ market leading team.

Announcing Karen’s appointment, the firm’s Chief Executive Andrew Poole said:

“Karen is a talented lawyer with expertise in cross border real estate deals, which fits nicely with our firm’s international reach and connection to the MinterEllison legal group.”

Karen’s career started at MinterEllisonRuddWatts, where she was a Senior Associate both in New Zealand and at MinterEllison in Australia before joining Baker McKenzie. Karen is excited about her return to MinterEllisonRuddWatts:

“The decision to re-join MinterEllisonRuddWatts was easy. It’s a homecoming of sorts, given that it’s where I first stepped foot in a law firm, and where I have retained several old friends whose values I share. I’m looking forward to working with colleagues and contacts in Australia and New Zealand to provide an effective trans-Tasman platform for off-shore and local clients investing in those regions.”
