New Zealand’s top governance businesses named

Kiwi businesses leading the way with exceptional corporate governance practices have been named in this year’s Deloitte Top 200 Awards, with MinterEllisonRuddWatts proudly sponsoring the Excellence in Governance Award.

The awards showcase the Top 200 largest New Zealand businesses based on revenue performance, as well as an additional list of the country’s Top 30 financial enterprises assessed by asset value.

The Excellence in Governance award recognises an outstanding performance in organisational governance, based on criteria determined with the approval of the Institute of Directors and in accordance with the New Zealand Securities Commission Corporate Governance Principles and Guidelines.

Finalists for the MinterEllisonRuddWatts Excellence in Governance Award are:

  • Sanford – the country’s biggest publicly listed fishing company
  • Trade Me – New Zealand’s largest internet auction website
  • Ports of Auckland – the largest container port in New Zealand

Chair of MinterEllisonRuddWatts, Lloyd Kavanagh says:

“The Deloitte Top 200 Awards are the premier business awards here in New Zealand, recognising excellence and success in our business community. It's a celebration of Kiwi success in our business and governance communities.

“Strong governance is fundamental for business success and the continued prosperity of our nation. Without high performing governance, businesses fail to see opportunities for growth, and are exposed to more risk.

“We sponsor this award as one of our contributions to strengthening governance in New Zealand.”

Winners will be announced at a black-tie awards dinner in Auckland on Wednesday, 21 November.
