Senior Corporate Counsel - Corporate and Commercial

Peter is a corporate and commercial lawyer who has led a number of New Zealand’s most significant transactions over the last 30 years. He has broad legal expertise including takeovers, flotations, joint ventures and Maori and Treaty of Waitangi issues.

In addition to Peter’s extensive corporate experience, he has experience advising clients in the energy and resources industry, as well as broad experience that includes the aviation industry, maritime industry, agriculture and farming industry. Peter does considerable work for the charitable and not for profit sector.

Peter’s focus has been on all aspects of mergers and acquisitions, he provides extensive advice on governance and corporate matters to the boards of numerous NZ and international companies, as well as documenting numerous contracts and acting in relation to company flotations and equity raisings

Peter has been recognised as a leading corporate lawyer and leading individual by several publications, including ‘The Best Lawyers in New Zealand’ and ‘Chambers Global’.

Peter advises on Maori Legal Issues, and has acted for Waikato–Tainui in relation to its land and river claims and constitutional matters; he is a board member of several orchestral and operatic foundations and trusts; and has facilitated numerous client seminars on commercial, corporate and Securities Act issues.
