Senior Associate - Banking and Finance

Sam is a banking and finance lawyer with significant experience advising both borrowers and lenders on a wide range of financing transactions.

Sam acts for leading banks, financial institutions, corporates and sponsors on a variety of transactions including asset finance, acquisition and leveraged finance, property finance, general corporate finance, project finance, debt restructuring and cross border financing transactions.

He has acted for financiers, lessors, originators and borrowers/lessees across a variety of financing transactions involving a number of different asset classes.

Sam’s corporate finance experience includes acting on syndicated and bilateral facilities, bridge financings as well as debt restructuring transactions.

He has broad experience advising on a range of property finance transactions both in New Zealand and internationally.

Sam acted for Avolon, the international aircraft leasing group, on a US$636 million asset backed securitisation involving a portfolio of twenty aircraft operating in a variety of international jurisdictions.

Advised a private equity real estate fund

Sam recently advised a private equity real estate fund on the financing of its acquisition of the Kensington Forum Hotel, a 906-room hotel located in central London.

Advised the lead arrangers of the Thameslink Rolling Stock Project

Sam advised the lead arrangers in relation to the financing of the Thameslink Rolling Stock Project as part of the improvement of the London Thameslink rail route. The transaction involved the provision of circa £1.6 billion of senior debt arranged through a syndicated loan group consisting of 19 banks.
