MinterEllisonRuddWatts announced today that the firm has selected the new BNZ building for its next premises in Wellington.

The new BNZ building is located in the heart of Wellington’s waterfront at One Whitmore Street, with the 15-storey development which spans a full city block.

The new building is one of the most seismically advanced developments in New Zealand. It is also highly efficient and designed to achieve a 5-Star Green Star rating. Both factors played a significant role in the firm’s decision to relocate.

The firm’s Wellington team will move into level 5 of the new building in mid-2024.

Upon announcing the move, MinterEllisonRuddWatts Chief Executive, Andrew Poole said: “The new BNZ building enjoys incredible views of Wellington’s waterfront while being in the centre of the city – and close to public transport options. The building’s design has been described as contemporary and practical, which fits nicely with our firm’s approach to legal advice.

“Underpinned by sustainability, a key requirement of the design brief is to create a warm and welcoming environment in which our clients and staff can collaborate easily. Our new Wellington office space will be a great place for our people to work and for our clients to visit, both now and into the future.

“We are excited to be moving to a new space that provides us with an opportunity to support our unique culture and enhance the services we provide to our clients. Our new space further builds on our vision to be the firm of choice for leading clients and exceptional people.”

MinterEllisonRuddWatts has engaged Athfield Architects, supported by Jonathan Custance to complete its Wellington office design with construction expected to begin by November 2023.
