Jennifer advises businesses on major property transactions.  While she has a diverse practice, her specialist expertise are in complex leasing and development work, advising on foreign investment in property and the property aspects of large-scale mergers and acquisitions.

Jennifer has a wealth of experience advising on commercial leases across a range of industries for office, retail and industrial premises and acting for both for landlords and tenants.

Her recent work includes advising a number of businesses leasing premises in new developments (office, retail and industrial premises). This includes several large corporate tenants taking multi-million dollar office space in Auckland’s pre-eminent mixed use CBD development, Commercial Bay.

Jennifer’s other major projects and development experience includes unit title developments, site acquisitions, titling and land tenures, subdivisions and infrastructure projects in the energy sector.

As a stalwart of the real estate division of MinterEllisonRuddWatts, Jennifer routinely leads project teams to deliver legal services cost-efficiently and on time. She also makes a significant contribution to training, mentoring and generally supporting junior lawyers, which enhances the depth, quality and client service offering of the team.  Additionally, it is an important aspect of the team’s revered culture.

Jennifer has 15 years’ experience working in the commercial property sector – both in the UK and New Zealand – and is dual-qualified.  Jennifer has also worked in a global property business, while on secondment.

Jennifer recognises the value of timely advice, given in plain English, and a practical approach.

Flagship new premises for corporate occupiers

Acting for several large professional services firms on relocation to the prominent new Commercial Bay development in Auckland CBD.  These high-value leasing transactions included acting for the anchor tenant.

Additional new warehouse for leading nutrition business

Acting on the negotiation for the development and lease of a major new warehouse for the expansion of a leading nutrition products business.  This complex negotiation was carried out over a number of month and the deal was subject to approval from the overseas investment office.

New managers for a hotel group

Advising a hotel owner-operator on the terms of several hotel management agreements to appoint an international brand to manage the hotels.

Future use of central distribution warehouse for large retailer

Advising large national retailer in negotiations for a new long-term lease of its central distribution warehouse.  The large industrial premises is owned by an institutional landlord and is a key site for the retailer’s operations.
