Senior Associate - Banking and Financial Services
Sean is a Senior Associate in our Banking and Financial Services team.
He has broad experience in transactional and advisory work in the financial services industry with particular expertise in insolvency and restructuring matters. Sean has a strong regulatory and compliance practice, including advisory work around reforms of consumer lending legislation. His experience also extends to various types of financing transactions, including property finance, development finance and project finance matters.
Sean has been involved in a number of client secondments, including in the risk/compliance sectors.
Prior to joining MinterEllisonRuddWatts in 2018, Sean gained litigation experience gained in the UK in the financial services sector.
Consumer finance regulatory changes
Advising banks and other financiers on the recent reforms of the Credit Contract and Consumer Finance Act 2003 (and associated regulations).
Advising JUCY Group (and then its receivers) on a variety of matters for the JUCY Rentals business and the receivership process following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Receivership sale of wine business assets
Acting for the secured creditor and receivers on a receivership sale of a New Zealand group of wine-making companies.
Providing advice to McCain Foods on a formal creditor compromise under Part 13 of the Companies Act 1993 put forward by the company that owns the Burger King franchisor in New Zealand.
Advising a high-profile national company on restructuring issues and options that related to the company’s loss-making subsidiary.
