On Tuesday, 21 March 2023, MinterEllisonRuddWatts hosted its inaugural Construction and Infrastructure conference Building Together | [Re]set for the future for industry governors and senior executive managers actively involved in the sector.

The event brought together politicians, construction and infrastructure leaders, and key industry participants to consider the strategic direction of the sector, and the issues and opportunities for the sector, at a time of increasing scale complexity and number of projects that are to be delivered, a background of increasing societal and political requirements in the timing and manner of delivery of projects, and international and domestic challenges and constraints.

In the articles below we provide a summaries of the key topics, issues, opportunities, and challenges raised at the conference:

The keynote address: New Zealand's Construction and Infrastructure pipeline: Where we are now and where do we need to be?

The policy debate: Is policy enabling or hindering progress?

The Panel on mega projects: The rise of mega projects

The sustainability discussion: Successful implementation of sustainability principles

The people discussion: Māku e kii atu, he tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata
