Immigration

As a well-developed country full of opportunity, immigrating to New Zealand is a chance for your business and work-life balance to thrive. Our beautiful country offers the best of both worlds – pristine landscapes for weekend escapes matched by the fast-paced excitement of city living.

Our immigration practice focuses on immigration that supports business growth and we specialise in investor visa types. We have a close working relationship with Immigration New Zealand (INZ) who we regularly engage with on particularly complex immigration issues.

As part of a globally connected, full-service law firm, our immigration team works alongside other specialist practices that are well equipped to advise on other issues associated with moving to New Zealand, such as employment, tax and corporate law matters.

Our support has ranged from providing general guidance and strategic advice through to completing investor visa applications and liaising directly with INZ on behalf of clients. As a result, we have developed an in-depth understanding of the complex legal and technical issues which arise when advising high net-worth individuals and their specific business interests.

We advise clients from a range of sectors including health, film and productions, horticulture, financial services, technology, hospitality and tourism, and education on day-to-day visa/immigration queries.

Recent work

  • Assisting a number of high net-worth individuals to obtain New Zealand residency under the Investor 1 and Investor 2 category residency visas. Most recently we have assisted high net-worth individuals from Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States with investor visas.
  • Advising clients on New Zealand’s current border restrictions resulting from COVID-19 and Immigration New Zealand’s ‘critical worker’ visa framework. For example, we recently assisted a business with obtaining a critical worker visa for a crucial, senior employee.
  • Assisting employers managing applications for a range of different visas, including temporary work visas, post-study work visas, partnership visas, and residency visas (most notably skilled migrant category residence visas and investor visas).
